Glendalough, Wicklow Mountains and Kilkenny Day Tour
This fully Guided Tour with live commentary departs from Dublin city and travel south towards the hills and mountains of Wicklow Mountains National Park.
Our first stop is Glendalough “Valley of The two lakes” and its 6th century monastic site of St Kevin.
This is a beautiful valley deep in the Wicklow Mountains National Park. The guide will walk you through the ancient monastery of St Kevin and explain some of its main buildings and its folklore and history before giving you plenty of time to explore the valley yourself, taking a walk to the Upper lake or just enjoying the woods in this area.
We spend approx 1.5hrs in Glendalough
Then we travel through what is called the Wicklow Gap which has some of the most beautiful scenery and a few small rural villages.
Once we reach Kilkenny we have plenty of time here to explore this medieval Norman town such as St. Canice's Cathedral, Rothe House (Tudor Building), and of course Kilkenny Castle.
Kilkenny town is steeped in history and was once for a short period the capital of Ireland.
It was the location for one of Ireland’s earliest witch trials – The story of Dame Alice Kyteler and her servant Petronilla.
In Kilkenny we spend approx 3 hrs which gives you plenty of time to explore Kilkenny Castle and town and have some lunch.
